Homework Club
Gaisce

Aidlink: The students of Blackrock College have been involved with the GOAL-Aidlink St. Patrick's Day Badge project since 1989. Through the St. Patrick’s Day Badge Project, Aidlink raises money for the Developing World, splitting the money equally between the two implementing organisations Aidlink and Goal. Homework Club
The Homework Club is one of the ongoing Transition Year Projects. Every Monday and Tuesday two or three Transition Years Students go to Fitzgearld Park in Mounttown Co. Dublin to help boys and girls in primary school with their homework. Many of these children come from deprived backgrounds which are not always conducive to study.
This project is organised through the Blackrock College St Vincent de Paul Conference.

Gaisce
Gaisce (The President’s Award) is Ireland’s National Challenge Award, the country’s most prestigious and respected individual award programme, and a challenge from the President of Ireland, to young people between 15 and 25 years of age. (More info on www.gaisce.ie )

Almost fifty students (a record number) have signed up to work towards their bronze Gaisce award. They are working hard at community work, sports and new skills in order to attain their award. There are also talks of a group trip, which can be used for the “Adventure “ part of their award.

 

Tuck Shop
The Tuck Shop is a transition year project run by the Business Classes. It shows the business students how to run a business. It is run out the new shop in the 4th Year Rec area, which is a big step up from previous years when it wads run from under a set of stairs. The students have to get their own stock to sell in the shop from Musgraves which Mr.Sullivan generously drives the students too, and advertise the shop around the school with posters.
