Leman Concert 2012
On Sunday 22nd January, many Transition Year students were involved in the 26th Leman Festival Concert in the National Concert Hall.
BT Young Scientist
Toady, 12/1/12, all the 4th year students went ot the BT Young Scientist in the RDS. There were two entries from Blackrock College this year, one from 5th year and one from 3rd year. Michael D Higgins showed up as well as RTE to show their support. It was a very interesting trip as everyone presenting a project seemed really interested and enthusiastic about it.
Blackrock College Radio-Opening Day
Today was the first day of Blackrock College Radio, a radio broadcast created by the Transition Year students.
24 Hour Soccer Marathon
Approximately 70 students from Transition Year participated in the 24 Hour Soccer Marathon in aid of Saint Vincent de Paul. All students gained sponsorship in order to participate.
Sea Life Bray
Today, 4.2 and 4.5 English classes went to Sea Life in Bray for a guided tour of the aquatic tanks.
Leman Auditions
Leman Auditions will be taking place this thursday (1/12). Auditions start in the morning and will last all day, with many 4th Years auditioning as solo acts or with a band. The Leman Concert will take place January, in the National Concert Hall.
Films on Disability
Today, 21st October, a group of Transition Year students went to the IFI (Irish Film Institute) in Temple Bar. We watched four films on disabilities, including cases in Vietnam, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Nepal. We reflected on what we saw after each film and answered questions. Then at the end, we discussed the influence of poverty on the lives of disabled people around the world. It was a very educational day, and was enjoyed by all.
