Students take DART from Dun Laoghaire to Blackrock |
Recommended Hiking Equipment:
- Light Twin Shoulder Bag or Rucksack
- Hiking Equipment: Safety Footwear
- Hiking boots and/or heavy support runners and a change of footwear
- Socks: Four pairs of warm, heavy socks.
- Light body warmer worn under light T-Shirt
- Three T-Shirts
- Sweat-Shirt and light/wind-cheater/raincoat
- Cotton trousers (loose) and/or 2 tracksuit bottoms and/or shorts
- Sleeping back and two towels
- No jeans!
Meals:
- Evening Meal on Arrival: Chicken Pie/Shepherd’s Pie/Lasagne/Jelly/Ice-Cream/Tea/Coffee
- Breakfast: Cereal and Fried Breakfast/Toast/Tea/Coffee
- Lunch: Soup and Fresh Bread Rolls/Sandwiches/Cold Meats/Fruit/Snack/Water
- All Cooking Equipment, Food and Water will be supplied.
- Safety Equipment (GPS, Mobile, Route Map, Flares and First Aid Kit) will be carried by supervisors.
- Light shoulder bag or rucksacks of personal clothing are not supplied for health and safety reasons. Students will carry their personal belongings on hikes so follow the packing guidelines closely, i.e. travel light, shoulder sports bags are not recommended.
Cost per student:
- Retreat Centre and Gaisce Activities: €60 (inclusive of transport)
- Transport via Iarnróid Éireann
- Transport via bus from Gorey on Friday to the Retreat Centre and return to Gorey on Saturday.
