Christmas Tree Project

Every year around Christmas, one of the biggest fundraising projects run by Transition Years begins. The Christmas Trees project in aid of St. Vincent de Paul begins in the College car park and the majority of the year has some involvement in this project. Braving rain, hail and even sometimes snow, the boys sell as many trees as possible, with all proceeds going directly to St. Vincent de Paul.

Tuck Shop

The Tuck Shop is a Transition Year project which is run by the business classes. Each class runs the tuck shop for approximately 6-8 weeks. Each class is divided into groups such as the board of directors and shareholders. People must make an investment into the tuck shop if they wish to make a profit but they are also at a risk of making a loss. It is run out of the 4th year recreation area and is open at lunch time.

Mince Pie Morning

Every year in the month of December the transition year Home Economics class hold a mince pie morning for their parents and college staff. A small entrance fee is charged and all of the money raised by the mince pie morning will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul. Last year a record number of parents attended and a record sum of €700.00 was raised in aid of the St.Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. We hope to replicate that this year in order to give less fortunate people a better Christmas.
